The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday launched a scathing attack on Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav, accusing him of hypocrisy for not visiting the family of Shubham Dwivedi, a Kanpur native who was killed in the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack.

The BJP put up posters criticizing Yadav, questioning why he showed sympathy for criminal Mukhtar Ansari but failed to express condolences to the grieving Dwivedi family. The poster read, “Sharam karo Akhilesh Yadav ji. Khoonkhaar apradhi Mukhtar Ansari ki maut par dikha rahe samvedana. Terrorist attack main shikar hua Hindu Shubham Dwivedi ke ghar jaane main kyu khatam hogayi bhavnai? Faraq hai saaf shayad, Terrorist se rishta hain khaas, Hinduo se itni nafrat kyun? Pouchta hai Hindu samaj?”

Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had met Shubham Dwivedi’s family on April 24, offering condolences and vowing strong action against the perpetrators. Adityanath condemned the attack as a cowardly act and pledged that such incidents would not be tolerated in India.

“On April 22, a terrorist attack took place in J&K’s Pahalgam, in which one person from Kanpur was killed. Shubham Dwivedi, who had been married just two months ago, was a victim of this brutal attack,” CM Yogi said. “This is a cowardly act by the terrorists and shows terrorism is on its last breath. The central government will take strong action to defeat terrorism.”

Shubham Dwivedi, the only son of his parents, was among the 26 people killed in the attack at Baisaran meadow, Pahalgam, which also left several others injured. The tragedy has sparked widespread condemnation across the nation.
